TRAVERSE CITY CHERRIES + CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

last sunday, my husband and i received a bunch of gourmet michigan cherry products from our visiting relatives. we had quickly eaten through the near pound bag of chocolate-covered dried cherries, and still had a large-sized ziplock bag bursting with traverse city dried cherries. we needed to do something with them...and something fast.

so i made chocolate chip + cherry cookies!

here's an easy easy recipe adapted from chef john at foodwishes.blogspot.com

  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 large egg

LET' MAKE COOKIES BRO!

preheat over to 375 degrees F

in one bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking soda; set aside

in the second bowl cream together the butter and sugars until smooth and thoroughly incorporated. next, slowly whisk in the vanilla, and milk, once incorporated whisk in the egg in small portions of the batter; to avoid separation. once homogenous add the dry ingredients. lastly add chocolate chips and cherries.

scoop out even sized mounds of dough and place on parchment lined baking sheets.

bake for 12 minutes and let cool completely before enjoying. *or if our like my husband you'll have a glass of cold milk waiting for dunking hot-out-of-the-oven-cookies into.

*because i do not have a cookie scoop, and often have uneven-sized cookies that bake unevenly, i chose to spread my cookie dough out on waxed paper to be cut into roughly even sized squares.
